What is Diversity?
Diversity is about recognising, valuing and taking into account people’s different backgrounds, knowledge, skills, and experiences, and encouraging and using those differences to create a productive and effective workforce.
Companies are now showing their commitment to being a fair and inclusive employer by creating and publishing Diversity Plans which demonstrate their commitment to base all employment decisions solely on merit and are designed to protect employees from discrimination or harassment.

You may have policies and procedures in place, but are your people engaged and motivated to succeed? How do you deal with an employee whose performance is below par without alienating them or risk transgressing employment law?
Whilst absence through ill health is unavoidable from time to time, it’s important to monitor and manage levels of absenteeism at both an organisational and individual level.
If you are facing a tribunal claim already, or fear that current issues with an employee may be heading in that direction, P4 Performance can help. We have an excellent track record of helping clients to avoid matters reaching a tribunal court, from assisting with the completion of ET3 (response) forms, through to mediation and negotiation with claimants where appropriate. Compromise agreements can also be drafted on your behalf.
A good employee handbook should be a regular point of reference for all employees, rather than a weighty tome written in legalese that resides in the bottom of a drawer, never seeing the light of day. It should capture the culture, vision and values of the company and above all, be relevant throughout. In our view, if its contents need explaining, it has failed.
It’s an unfortunate reality that tribunal claims against employers have risen dramatically in recent times, helped in no small way by the advent of the no win no fee solicitor and our increasingly litigious society. As both part-time and full-time employees become ever more aware of their rights, the onus is on the business owner to ensure that they have adequate policies not just written, but effectively implemented.
